Fire Doors Doors

Fire rated doors are specialist doors tested and purpose-built to withstand fire for a specified duration, giving buildings time to evacuate safely and preventing fire from spreading between compartments. Rudhar Group manufactures fire rated doors in FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 ratings (denoting 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance) for staircase enclosures, lift lobbies, plant rooms and fire compartments, compliant with NBC 2016 and IS 3614.

Fire doors serve two vital, complementary functions:

  • When closed, they form a barrier that stops the spread of fire and smoke between compartments.
  • When opened, they provide a safe means of escape for occupants.

Features & Benefits

  • Available in FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 fire-resistance ratings to match the compartmentalisation requirement.
  • Intumescent seals around the door edges expand when temperatures exceed 200°C, sealing the gap between door and frame.
  • Self-closing hinges or door closers ensure the door returns to a closed position after use.
  • Steel or fire-rated composite door leaf construction for durability in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Vision panels available with fire-rated glass where visibility through the door is required.
  • Regular inspection and correct installation by a competent team is essential — fire doors are a carefully engineered life-safety device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered by our technical team.

A retractable gate (also called a scissor gate or folding security gate) is made from a criss-cross lattice of aluminium or steel bars that expand across an opening and collapse into a compact stack at the side when open. It requires minimal side storage space.

Retractable gates allow full ventilation and visibility when closed, require no headroom (no overhead drum), can be installed in very low-headroom situations, and open and close quickly. Rolling shutters are more suitable where solid security and weather protection are needed.

Rudhar Group retractable gates are primarily made from high-strength aluminium alloy, mounted with stainless steel hardware, pivot screws and guide shoes. MS (mild steel) retractable gates are also available for heavier-duty applications.

Automatic retractable gates from Rudhar Group are fitted with infrared double detectors. When the beam is broken by a person, vehicle or object while the gate is closing, the gate automatically stops and reverses to the open position, preventing entrapment or impact injury.

Yes. Single-bottom-track retractable gates are available for openings where a top rail cannot be fitted. These models use only a floor-mounted channel guide and are suitable for lower-security applications and lighter gate widths.

Single retractable gates are available up to 5 metres in width. Double (bi-parting) retractable gates can cover openings up to 10 metres. For very wide openings, multiple gate units can be installed in sequence.
