Fire Doors Doors

Fire rated doors are specialist doors tested and purpose-built to withstand fire for a specified duration, giving buildings time to evacuate safely and preventing fire from spreading between compartments. Rudhar Group manufactures fire rated doors in FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 ratings (denoting 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance) for staircase enclosures, lift lobbies, plant rooms and fire compartments, compliant with NBC 2016 and IS 3614.

Fire doors serve two vital, complementary functions:

  • When closed, they form a barrier that stops the spread of fire and smoke between compartments.
  • When opened, they provide a safe means of escape for occupants.

Features & Benefits

  • Available in FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 fire-resistance ratings to match the compartmentalisation requirement.
  • Intumescent seals around the door edges expand when temperatures exceed 200°C, sealing the gap between door and frame.
  • Self-closing hinges or door closers ensure the door returns to a closed position after use.
  • Steel or fire-rated composite door leaf construction for durability in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Vision panels available with fire-rated glass where visibility through the door is required.
  • Regular inspection and correct installation by a competent team is essential — fire doors are a carefully engineered life-safety device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions answered by our technical team.

A high-speed door is a fast-acting industrial door that opens and closes at speeds of 0.5-2.5 metres per second, which is 10-25 times faster than a standard rolling shutter. They are used in warehouses, cold storage, pharmaceutical plants, food processing units, cleanrooms and automotive factories.

Rudhar Group standard high-speed doors open at 0.8-1.5 m per second and close at 0.5-1.0 m per second. Spiral high-speed doors achieve up to 2.5 m per second opening. The exact speed depends on the door model, width, height, and application requirements.

Traditional roll-up doors stay open for extended periods during traffic flow, allowing conditioned air to escape. High-speed doors complete a full open-close cycle in 3-6 seconds, dramatically reducing air exchange. Studies show high-speed doors can reduce door-related energy costs by 30-80% in temperature-controlled facilities.

PVC high-speed doors use a flexible PVC fabric curtain that is lightweight, transparent (visibility through the door), and capable of self-repairing after minor impact. Spiral high-speed doors use rigid aluminium slats with significantly better thermal insulation and weather resistance but no transparency.

Minimal civil work is required. The guide rails are fixed to the walls or a free-standing frame. A floor loop detector may require a shallow groove cut in the floor. Our installation team handles all civil coordination during project execution.

High-speed doors for food and pharma applications should comply with hygiene standards with IP54 or higher control panel rating and food-grade PVC curtain material. Rudhar Group high-speed doors are designed and tested per industry safety standards.
