Fire rated doors are specialist doors tested and purpose-built to withstand fire for a specified duration, giving buildings time to evacuate safely and preventing fire from spreading between compartments. Rudhar Group manufactures fire rated doors in FD30, FD60, FD90 and FD120 ratings (denoting 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes of fire resistance) for staircase enclosures, lift lobbies, plant rooms and fire compartments, compliant with NBC 2016 and IS 3614.

Fire doors serve two vital, complementary functions:

  • When closed, they form a barrier that stops the spread of fire and smoke between compartments.
  • When opened, they provide a safe means of escape for occupants.

Industrial rolling shutters use thicker lath profiles (1.0-1.5 mm vs 0.8 mm for commercial), heavier-duty spring and barrel systems, wider and deeper guide channels, and high-torque motors. They are designed for higher frequency of operation (100-500 cycles per day), wider spans up to 30 ft, and heavier wind loads.

For standard industrial use (warehouses, factories), 1.0 mm thick lath is typically specified. For heavy industrial, loading dock, or high-wind-load applications, 1.2-1.5 mm thickness is recommended.

Standard industrial rolling shutters are not designed for forklift impact. If forklift traffic is present near the shutter, we recommend upgrading to a self-repairing high-speed door or installing bollards and impact protection barriers in front of the shutter.

Motor size is selected based on shutter width, height and lath thickness. For shutters up to 12 ft wide, a 0.37 kW motor is sufficient. For 12-18 ft wide shutters, 0.55-0.75 kW motor is used. Beyond 18 ft, a 1.1 kW or larger motor is specified.

Yes. Industrial rolling shutters from Rudhar Group are suitable for outdoor installation with weather-sealed guides, galvanised or powder-coated finish for corrosion resistance, and robust bottom bar seal to prevent rain ingress.

Standard industrial motorized rolling shutters operate at 8-12 cm per second (approximately 0.1 m per second). For a 3-metre high shutter, a full open or close cycle takes 25-38 seconds. For faster cycle times, a high-speed door is recommended.
